About this class
Salsa On2, also called Mambo, breaks on the second beat of the music. It gives the dance a distinctive, unhurried feel and a strong connection to the percussion.
Work focuses on timing, weight transfer, body movement and listening to the music rather than counting through it. Shines — the solo sequences dancers use when partners release each other — are practised as musical statements, not only as steps.
This is Alisa’s main specialism and the style Mambo Clan is named for.
